It
is the firm conviction of Genesis that physical activity
through sports and games is an essential ingredient for
the personality development of every student. We believe
that academics and sports are compatible and
complimentary in realizing the child's full potential.
Winston Churchill is famously known to have said, “The
battle of Waterloo was won on the playfields of Eaton
and Harrow!”. Activity on the playfield develops the
qualities of teamwork, leadership, dedication,
discipline, self-confidence and self-esteem. These
qualities get ingrained in the psyche and enable each
student to overcome the trials and tribulations of life.
Sports equip students to face the challenges of an
increasingly competitive world.
At
GGS the sports curriculum is uniquely designed by
Olympians and renowned sportspersons with the
understanding that every student is physically endowed
differently and thus the array of sporting activities
have to be diverse enough to suit various aptitudes. In
keeping with this view, we have invested heavily in
creating the finest and most extensive sports
infrastructure. The sports facilities are built to
international specifications and provide a wide choice
of sports and games.
The sports policy ensures a smooth transition from
childhood play to competitive sports. In the initial
years children will be encouraged to joyously
participate in the 'mother sports' of running, swimming
and free-hand gymnastics. Students explore and display
their special sport talent as they grow and we ensure
that their curriculum is upgraded accordingly. Special
training regimes are individually developed keeping in
view the abilities, talent and potential of every child
through counselling sessions.
